What do we do

At Reishi Clinic, our treatments are designed to address a wide range of health concerns using traditional Chinese medicine techniques tailored to each patient’s unique needs. We begin every consultation by thoroughly understanding your body—listening to your symptoms and performing pulse-taking to identify the root cause of your issues. Based on these insights, we recommend a personalised treatment plan that may include acupuncture, customised herbal tea, moxibustion, cupping therapy. Each treatment is carefully chosen to not just alleviate symptoms but to restore balance and support long-term healing.

Pulse Diagnosis

Pulse Diagnosis

Pulse-diagnosis is a key diagnostic technique in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that involves gently feeling the pulse on both wrists. Practitioners assess the rhythm, strength, and quality of the pulse at three positions on each wrist, each corresponding to specific organ systems and energy and blood pathways. By analysing subtle changes in the pulse, practitioners gain insights into the body's internal state, including organ dysfunctions, imbalances, energy flow disruptions, and root causes of health issues.

Benefits of Pulse-Taking:

  • Identifies Root Causes: Pulse-taking provides a deep understanding of the body's internal conditions, enabling practitioners to address the root cause of health concerns. Thus, guiding personalised and effective treatments to promote long-term wellness, rather than merely treating symptoms

  • Early Diagnosis: It can detect body problems up to three years before they appear in blood tests or scans, making it a powerful tool for preventive care.

  • Comprehensive Insight: Experienced practitioners can fully and accurately assess your body’s condition through pulse-taking. One interesting example is its ability to detect a baby’s gender after just 12 weeks of pregnancy.

  • Non-Invasive: Pulse-taking is a gentle and non-invasive diagnostic tool suitable for patients of all ages, including infants and children.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture

Acupuncture views the body as a system of interconnected energy pathways. These meridians share many similarities with the neuroanatomy in Western medicine, which is explained in more detail below. The meridians connect different parts of the body to internal organs. Acupuncture involves inserting fine, sterile needles into specific points on the body to:

  • Supports Organ Recovery: By targeting specific points associated with internal organs, acupuncture stimulates nerve pathways and improves organ function. This can accelerate recovery, regulate detoxification processes, and enhance overall organ health.

  • Neuroanatomical Similarities to Meridians: TCM meridians have intriguing parallels to neuroanatomy. Numerous areas of the spine or meridian pathways are linked to the same specific physiological functions or organ systems. For example, thoracic nerves control the heart and lungs in neuroanatomy, and stimulation of the meridian points near the thoracic spine in acupuncture helps the recovery of the heart and lungs. However, Acupuncture not only targets the meridian points near the spinal cord but also works to unblock any blockages along the entire meridian pathway of the dysfunctional organ. In addition, in TCM the body is viewed as an interconnected whole. Therefore, an experienced acupuncturist will also stimulate the organs closely linked to the dysfunctional organ, further supporting its recovery and promoting overall healing.

  • Restoring energy flow: Acupuncture stimulates meridian points to remove blockages and restore the smooth flow of body energy.

  • Improved Blood Circulation: Acupuncture enhances blood flow to targeted areas, delivering oxygen and nutrients while removing toxins, thereby aiding tissue repair and organ recovery.

  • Nervous System Activation: Acupuncture stimulates sensory nerves, triggering the release of neurotransmitters such as endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine. This helps relieve pain and stress.

  • Hormonal and Immune Modulation: By balancing hormone levels and modulating immune responses, acupuncture reduces inflammation and supports the body’s defence mechanisms.

Through the aforementioned mechanisms, acupuncture is an effective treatment for supporting organ recovery, pain management, stress and anxiety relief, improving women's health and Skin Health and Aesthetics.

Herbal Tea

Chinese Herbal medicine

Specific herbs are carefully selected and combined to address an individual's unique health needs at Reishi Clinic. Herbal tea works by nourishing and supporting the body’s natural healing processes, addressing both symptoms and the root causes of illness.

How does it work?

  1. Targeted Healing: Individualised herbal tea blends are designed to target specific health issues of each individual, addressing underlying imbalances or dysfunction of the organs that conventional medicine may not effectively treat.

  2. Restoring Balance: TCM views health as a state of balance between the body's internal energy systems. Each herbal ingredient has specific properties (warm, cold, damp, dry) that can help regulate the body's functions and restore equilibrium. For example, cooling herbs may be used to reduce internal heat in fever and inflammation etc, while warming herbs can stimulate circulation and energy flow.

  3. Support for Chronic and Complex Conditions: We are particularly confident in our ability to treat health struggles that often remain unresolved by conventional medicine using herbal tea, such as chronic fatigue, hormonal imbalances, digestive disorders, autoimmune diseases, and more. By treating the root cause rather than just alleviating symptoms, Chinese herbal tea offers a more holistic approach to healing.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves burning dried mugwort near specific acupuncture points or meridian pathways. The mechanism of the moxibustion is similar to acupuncture which supports the recopy of organs, restores the balance and unblocks any blockage in the body by stimulating the meridian pathways. In contrast, the warmness of the moxibustion can target the body issues deeper than the fine needles, thus it's crucial for more complex and long-running diseases. The warmness also effectively removes any coldness in the body, for example, in fibroids, benign tumours, arthritis, and more.

How does Moxibustion Work?

  1. Restoring Balance and Unblocking Pathways: Like acupuncture, moxibustion stimulates the meridian system to promote the smooth flow of vital energy and blood, addressing blockages and restoring any imbalance to the body.

  2. Deep Heat Penetration: The therapeutic warmth of moxibustion penetrates deeper into body tissues compared to acupuncture needles. This makes it particularly beneficial for addressing complex conditions and chronic diseases.

  3. Warming the Body to Remove Coldness: The heat generated by moxibustion effectively dispels coldness from the body, which is often linked to conditions such as fibroids, benign tumours, arthritis, and other cold-induced imbalances.

  4. Improving Circulation and Hormonal Regulation: Moxibustion enhances blood flow and stimulates the body’s natural healing processes. It also helps regulate hormones, addressing imbalances that may contribute to various chronic conditions.

Treatment for infant and children

Pulse Diagnosis

At Reishi Clinic, we do not offer massage as it is not considered a curative treatment. Our focus is on therapies that address the root causes of health concerns, providing lasting results rather than temporary relief.

However, we do offer Tui Na therapy for infants and children under 10 years old. This gentle and effective treatment is particularly suited to children because of their faster circulation compared to adults. Children typically do not require acupuncture or herbal medicine. Instead, Tui Na works to eliminate toxins, including viruses and bacteria, through carefully tailored manipulations.

Why Tui Na for Children?

  • Gentle and more Non-Invasive: A perfect alternative for children, providing relief without needles or herbal teas.

  • Targets Common Issues: Effectively addresses respiratory and digestive problems, which are most common in young children.

  • Supports Faster Recovery: Utilises the naturally rapid circulation of children to promote quicker healing.

  • Age-Specific Effectiveness: The younger the child, the more responsive their body is to Tui Na, making it an ideal early intervention for health concerns.

Tui Na is specifically designed for children because their smaller body size and faster circulation make gentle manipulation highly effective. In contrast, adults or children above 10 years old have greater body mass, and their health concerns are often more complex and long-standing. As a result, the gentle manipulation techniques used in Tui Na are insufficient to address deeper blockages or remove accumulated toxins in adults and teenagers.

For patients above 10 years old, more comprehensive treatments such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, and moxibustion are necessary to effectively address their health issues and support recovery.
